Mike Arnone
Big Mike Art - Gallery & Studio
Mike Arnone is a Palm Springs based contemporary painter whose work explores the intersection of architecture, abstraction, light, and memory. Drawing inspiration from desert modernism, the geometry of the built environment, and landscapes encountered through travel, Arnone creates layered compositions that balance structure with spontaneity. His paintings distill elements of proportion, rhythm, color, and light into an abstract visual language that feels both contemporary and timeless.
A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, with degrees in Fine Arts and Graphic Communications, Arnone spent more than 25 years working as a graphic designer and art director in Los Angeles. Today, he combines that background in composition and visual organization with an experimental painting process using oil, cold wax, graphite, and oil pastel. Through layered textures, geometric forms, and atmospheric passages, his evolving series including Modern Sacred Geometry, Satellites, Oceania, Dalmati, and Light Structure—explore the relationship between order, uncertainty, and emotion.
In 2022, Arnone established Big Mike Art – Gallery & Studio at The LOFTS Art District in downtown Palm Springs. The gallery serves as both an exhibition space and a working studio, offering visitors an opportunity to experience his original paintings, explore evolving bodies of work, and connect with his creative process. His paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States, as he continues to explore abstraction as a way to transform architecture into atmosphere, geometry into emotion, and light into something unexpected.
